District administration software / Hosted Solution |
|
![]() How it works: PI 2.0 is available in both a hosted and local installation environment providing the ability for individual schools to deploy mobile applications without an additional technology investment and for school districts to have centralized data and user management. Hosted Solution: If you are looking to deploy PI 2.0 with minimal investment in IT infrastructure (such as, servers, backup systems, security systems, IT staff, etc.) then PI 2.0 Hosted Edition is right for you. Step 1 (Data Transfer): All that your school will be required to do is to tell us what information they would like to have available on handheld devices for different users, and GICSOFT will create a data extract script that will take that data from school backend systems (i.e. Student Information System) and will transfer that data to a secure GICSOFT hosted Portable Intelligence Server over secure FTP connection. Once the Data Extraction Bridge is established, the data transfer process will be scheduled on a periodic basis so that school personnel can always have up-to-date information at hand. Step 2 (Client Application Setup): Each Handheld user will need to install the "client application" on their handheld device. Just put your handheld device on a cradle connected to your computer and double click client setup program on your desktop. A few seconds later, setup will complete and you are ready to synchronize data. Step 3 (Login and Data Synchronization): Once the client application is installed you can click on PI 2.0 icon on your handheld device and login with Account information provided by GICSOFT. From there, click "synchronize" button and reports that are available for you will be retrieved from PI 2.0 server. In order to sync data your device must either be connected to: 1. Computer connected to the Internet through a cradle or USB 2. Wireless Network |
